"THOUGHTS AND REFLECTIONS ON THE SUMMER."

Depression, anxiety, happiness, love are just glimpses of many contrast feelings I experienced last summer. After checking myself everyday on the mirror I would find myself empty as an entity with no soul and no feelings for others. What make you be happy again after losing your last trail to your real happiness? Perhaps, hoping to reinvent myself as a new person but how hard could be achieve this when you are coming from experienced the worst of the nightmares? If there are something I learned during this last times is to encourage myself and believe there is a tomorrow for everyone. A tomorrow where the real happiness is not only material but in addition spiritual. The promise happy tomorrow could take years or a long period where you can be dropped again in the darkness side of depression. But we need to keep that flame all times on, in order to don’t get lost again in our journey to happiness. Because fiction is sometimes confused with reality, we need to follow very carefully our heart and don’t get fool by the temptation of perfect life.

JEANS: A DELICIOUS APPLE IMPOSSIBLE TO RESIST

Everyone share a passion. What about a common passion we share all together such as tight or fit jeans? Sometimes we express our music or thinking wearing a pair of jeans. We have in different color and shapes: Fit, Loose, denim or a variety color like white, cold blues or leather jeans. But despite of color brands or type what makes a pair of jeans special? I would say the glamour or the feeling it express when you walk on the street. This and many other aspects have showed us that jeans are more than a piece of dressing. Sometimes it expresses your sexual desire when you walk next to people looking at you as a piece of cake. The philosophy of wearing jeans goes from showing your personality to reflecting your personal style every day. As we can see there are many answer to the questions why we love jeans? But also designing a jean is not a easy task to do. Sometimes takes months and years to design the perfect jeans for a specific user and also we can call them Designer Jeans. There show creativity and a surrealistic fashion that goes from the conservative to the modern. I prefer fit jeans, they make you feel like a second skin that express your emotions and flavors of style. So Can you resist to wear one of them?

OXYCOTIN: THE FALLEN OF A KILLER

For many people with severe pain like migraine Oxycotin could sound like heaven but unfortunately the fast solution becomes the worst nightmares for most of the people who get to this painkiller. To the pint it get as a drug abuser. But why doctors or hospital don’t warm their patients about the risk of taking this medication. For most of the friends who has experienced this pill, The doctor who prescribed this drug don’t give enough information to their patients or in another words don’t care what could happen next after they get addicted to this drug. What about the Government or the FDA? Why they let big corporations such as Purdue Pharma keep manufacturing and not warning to the public about how poisonous this pill could be? Maybe we need to look what is running under the table. You will surprise how much money is spend each year on lobbyist by these companies in the congress. If you we check the rate of people dying caused by overdoses you will be surprised that each year the rate of mortality is increasing to alarming numbers. The good news is this week they started punishing some executives and the companies for lack of information about this drug but I think is too late for people like me has lost closes friend or relatives due to this killer drug. But if we see what the punishment 3 years on jail was and some community service sounds like is a joke for them. Mr. president: How many innocent has to keep dying due to this drug? Or is more important for you the green than people lives?

AMERICAN GREEN: HOW GREEN WE WANT TO BE OUR PLACE?

How we can help to make this planet more green and healthy for future generations? We know in the entire solar system, a small planet called earth is the only one as far as we know support any kind of life. This small planet who gives us life is asking for our help. He is not just redirecting his helping voice to big companies, he is asking for help from everyone who walks on him, everyone who breathes his air, everyone who use his natural resources, everyone who enjoy living on this planet. If this beautiful planet gives us more than we expected why not start now and start taking care of him. To see how much he love us he create this layer protection against the sun called The ozone protection. With this protection there wouldn’t be existence on earth. Instead of caring for our planet we are destroying with contamination and gas emission creating a Frankenstein as well know as Greenhouse Effect which make it warmer every year our system. But explaining all of these interrogatives what we can do simple person like us? It is just simple. I am sure many of you have heard of recycling. Yes, recycling plastic maybe it will take minutes of our lives but that minutes it will make longer the living on this beautiful planet. Let raise our hands and start acting now before it is late and we finish destroying the only planet with life that maybe exist in the entire universe. How green du wanna make this planet?

SIMPSON FAMILY: AMERICAN BEAUTY?

“I promise to help American families become a lot more like the Waltons and a lot less like the Simpsons! “ , Bush promising a better approach to family values? The next day the Simpsons respond while they were watching bush on tv: "Hey! We're just like the Waltons," said Bart. "We're praying for an end to the Depression, too." . This comedy cartoon has been running for many season since I start watching it for the first time on the 1990’s on television. In some way it reflects the family culture of the perfect American society making sarcasm how perfect we want to appear to the public. Maybe this sarcastic comedy was the gold mine if this tv show that make them so successful and now they are relesing a movie on the end of July. But One character is the one who make the show a reality show. Yes, have you heard of homer? Maybe for many who never seen this show could sound like the Philosopher from old times. Well lets say he is his twin, but not in intelligence, in appearance. Many know him as the beeer drinker, donut loving, fat bald man but he is the most laughable character of old times. If you see the show you will see there is no a big difference with real life. My personal opinion why I love this tv show because it makes fun of the conservatives principles and politics. Inspiring, innovative, revolutionary artist of all time, Madonna is considered for many as the goodness of Pop music and sex symbol of America. She reshaped the music industry with her aggressive acts of sexuality and breaks all barriers of innocence on the media and TV. Her last album “Confession on a dance floor” was tasty as many critics would said “she is like fine and exotic wine, the older she gets, the more valuable and tasty she become”. After her last concert, which opened with future love, I could say she ruled the world with her music. The ecstasy touch his highest level when she perform “I love new York” and sending invitations to George Bush to F@#@#$# himself and go back to Texas. The whole album is a mixing de motion action and vibration stick together to the motion of the 80s music. As a result it's damn near psychedelic. She crash the music history going from ABBA, the Tom Tom Club to the S.O.S Band. She got the gift to touch people hearth with music that go from the complexity to the simplicity. I would recommend you if you like her music connect her music to your amplifiers and blow up your house air so you can dance though the entire album without blinking. ASPIRING TO BE GOD OR EVIL: EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS

They claim they will save us but want to slaves us, they scream about demons and sometimes they are the big demons tempting us. Any guess from who I am talking about? Yes the ones who should serve god but instead they serve themselves as Mormons, Evangelical Christians and others. But no one can deny they are excellent sellers, they will try to convince you to buy an ipod or Iphone praying is the best product for excessive prices when you don’t need it or they lie to you that you need to give money to gods work. After all they are human and in some point all we are hypocrites in one way or another. It is amazing how people get brainwashed after some sessions.. I believe in freedom of religion in all senses but when they pass the limit is in here where we need to stop and control the fanatism.

Inmigrant America: A Melting Pot of Assimilation

"When my skin turns white and my hair turns blonde, then I'll be an American," said Jacinta, a Mexican immigrant as many who refuse and are afraid of the idea of assimilation. She become American citizen last year but she said she is still feeling like a Mexican and refuse the idea of assimilating to American society. It is not the first time we see this kind of social problem on societies where like America the social diversity is getting bigger. For most families coming from Hispanic families, the value of family coming first and keeping their culture as inside and out of the house its getting a huge barrier for assimilation. Maybe many of us we confuse the word of assimilation with giving up our ethnic culture but it is in here where we are wrong. So what does it means to assimilate to American Society? First we have to accept the English as a national language; we have to be proud of American identity, believe in American democratic and freedom of thinking and live under American ethics and values. We shouldn’t forget that American culture is not a perfect and as we see it has as other cultures bad and good sides. This is another problem we have to add our list, most kids from immigrants who achieve to assimilate to American society, they start assimilating but the worst part of American culture. As a result most young kids get involved in Gangs who are becoming a real national problem around United States. Maybe immigration posses multiply problems for many who are fighting against us but why don’t we start showing them that we can be shape a better America with ethic and values? Have you started?

Witches and wizards are terms used in medieval times as a superstition and fictional characters and this book is a mirror how medieval ideas and a good marketing can make a money making machine for the writer and publisher. In addition to the success to the harry Potter Books you will find ones who ban the book and catalogue as a pagan, secretly corrupted and brainwashing with pagan ideas. For our luck of all fans including the one who is written this column, Hollywood has ignored the overwhelming opposition of these religious groups, which I am going to mention in future blog, and released the fifths films. But what makes harry potter a sticky book that keep us in front of the line asking for more?. I would say the magic of being a child again and contrast our lives with the one of the little wizard depicted in the book. Since the release of the first book there has been an increase on reading among the young which I consider as a good cultural impact from this book in the youngest. Now with the upcoming final book, which I tried to get before the official release and failed vanishing, there are many gossip around the harry potter fans guessing how it will end. There is one coming from unknown resource and claiming he read the whole book already and here is his spoil message:

“Dear my brothers, Voldemort killed Hermione. Yes, that's true. And we knew that 2 days ago. This is the end of the not yet published (someone could call that 0day) book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows .At the end of the story Hagrid was killed by Snape in the attempt of ambush Hermione and Ron. Ron and Hermione flees in privet drive but Voldermort, surprising them, engaged a magical duel with Ron and Hermione. Voldemort attacked trough the imperius curse and Hermione, to protect the life of Ron fight hardly for more than 6 pages and then finally die. (boring, very boring... it's always the same story!)

Then, to make a long story short, Harry came up, killed all the bad guys and Hogwarts against became a good place to stay and have fun. Ah, i missed one important information about Draco Malfoy, he started to create Horcrux (for fun and profit!). The end.”.

I believe him in some point but I definitely would spend whole night reading the book and see what is the uncertain future of harry potter.

3:16 19 years later Harry is married 2 ginny and ron to to hermione. It is so predictable this book!

Democratic socialism: The Devil Wears Prada?

Maybe for many of us mentioning the word socialism brought to our mind communism or the dark side of the URSS as an old nightmare for many people who lived under the oppression of a few. After listening to some friend of mine the meaning of Democratic socialism, which is sanitized by capitalists and neoliberals, make a little sense in terms of democracy. What if we put socialism and democracy together? Well we have the entire population controlling the economy using some kind of democracy in order to meet the needs of the whole population and not make profits for just a few. It sounds good to me give their people the power to manage their own economy. Because of the past experiences socialism has being growing in erroneous way on American people. A good example we can see in 1993 when a National Health Insurance was attacked, defeated and catalogued as “Socialized medicine”. So many will ask if this system is so perfect why is not applied now? There are right now democrats focusing in small steps to make this dream a reality for many struggling with medical insurance, better salaries or a better protection to us workers. Even though capitalism will be with us for a long time, socialism is an attainable goal worth struggling for.

IRAK INSURGENCY: THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WAR

Who are behind the resistance on Iraq? Accused by the Bush Administration as a terrorist, the reality is too much complex to simplify in a single word “terrorist’. If we go to the video released on Muslim television we would agree and in some terms to support their cause. Their formula “to resist and pull out the invaders from Iraq” is becoming more aggressive and successful in many Iraqi Regions. The increasing support by Iraq’ population in many communities can prove this formula. But we have to believe this preaching over the media as being just the dissidents fighting for their nation. I would assume there is more than one supporter of the resistance trying to get benefits. It is not surprising to know if we look back on time how big religious and radicals group take people from the poorest areas to brainwash their ideologies in order to defend their personal interests. We could ask who are the supporters behind this dissident group?. If the answer is terrorist groups such as Al-Qaida or Rich Iraq People trying to use Iraq people as a human Shield to protect their interest, our answer is the history will judge as betrayals, Otherwise we are making a mistake interfering in other nation democracy.

THE POWER OF ONE: A NEW WORLD BUILD ON PHILANTHROPY

Bill Gates and Melinda Gates give away 31 millions for public use and medical research. Warrant buffet did the same with an additional 3o millions. Of course they are not the only one who backed up more money in favor of the needed. Rockefeller did it in the 20 century creating Charities institutions to use that money. Thanks to their donations, it helps Brazilian eliminate Malaria, or helping other third countries to develop like agriculture or education. So what we called the power of one? Well it is the way to reshape the world trough philanthropy. You don’t need to be rich or billionaire to be a philanthropist. We can whip in through different ways such as giving small donations, being a volunteer in social work, helping homeless people or giving a piece of bread to the ones in need. There is a phrase we must keep in mind and I want to share “give and forget, receive and remember”. Maybe we can find very difficult to give something we like but remember how precious and sweet is to receive and smile for someone in need after receiving our help. We don’t need any recognition, just that smile of satisfaction from people in need and sometimes we become unknown heroes for them. Can you shape the face of the world?

BLACK AND WHITE: THE AWAKENING OF AN OLD NIGHTMARE

If we look around us what make us different one from another? Color Skin? Language? Tradition or beliefs?. It sounds like for most people being white, black , Asian or Hispanic make the differences. Racism is and will be a controversial issue in our society as long as we let our ignorance overthrow over our intelligence. In September 2006, a group of black students ask permission to sit under a tree considered just for whites. After that event took place in the high school on Louisiana is not surprise came the use of violence justifying on racism issue. But racism it doesn’t come from one side as many want us to believe. The fight to believe who is inferior or most powerful comes from both sides of the table. For most of people the word racism could be used as an excuse to clean their bad actions. Isaiah Washington was fired last week from the Grey’s anatomy TV show for using antigay slurs. So what does he do after? He start yelling to everybody he was fired because he was black, “My mistake was thinking black people get second chances”. Maybe he is still living in the 1800s. What about the psps ads released in Europe. I would say this ads is an interesting and innovative ad commercial, but from the points of view of Racist organizations they found it controversial and offensive. I would say instead of checking our color skin we must focus in serious problems like poverty and education and development. Do you still live in 1800’s or 2007?

JOURNALISTS ON IRAQ: THE REAL HEROS

They don’t wear protections, they don’t carry guns, but they risk their lives to bring us the latest news about the war. I would consider call the journalist on Iraq the unsung heroes of this war. Since the war on Iraq, a number of 44 journalists and 17 technicians have been killed. They know already before getting there the critical risk they are going to be exposed. Threats like bombings, firing, kidnapping and suicide bombings make it one of the risky jobs in the world. Name like Paul Douglas, James brolan are some of the heroes who said before leaving to Irak “ After coming back from Iraq, I would live for my family every minute of my life”, 6 months after they were kidnapped and killed. But what make them go there knowing all risk and threats will be exposed?. Maybe they feel a strong love for their profession and want to make part of the story. They are a bunch of talented people who loves their work and determined to do the best despite of the danger it could treat. Perhaps this is a new generation of journalist who doesn’t care about Pulitzer or other awards but brings us the last minute from the other side of the war. Maybe they don’t get the celebrity fame but they work on shadows as the best journalist.
